Dr. Meena Bapaye has been at the forefront of modern-day ophthalmology in North Maharashtra for the last 30 years. A gold medalist of B.J. Medical College, Pune University, is first eye surgeon to introduce contact lens clinic, microsurgery, intraocular lenses, and retinal services in Nashik. She trained in medical retina at Sankara Nethralaya, Chennai, and phaco-emulsification at LV Prasad Eye Institute, Hyderabad. She is the pioneer of the medical retina (Angiography and lasers) and phacoemulsification in North Maharashtra. She has a special interest in glaucoma and cornea. Her work has been recognized by several awards like Nashik ophthalmological Association life time achievement award, Dr. Vasantrao Gupte Award, and Goda Puraskar for significant work in the medical field in Nashik, Nashik IMA BC Roy Award life time achievement award.
